THE RECENTLY LAUNCHED JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa boasts 60 spacious villas, all with private pools, wooden sunbathing decks, and a lot of open space. Little Griffins, a Family by JW Marriott kids’ club, will keep your little ones entertained with its 43-foot-long pirate ship, sleeping area, games, and educational activities, while you unwind in the resort’s adult-only infi nity pool, located on the tip of Vagaru Island. There’s also a clubhouse on the property with a cigar room, shisha room, and billiards table. JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa’s location on a private island allows its guests the freedom to explore the surrounding reef that teems with sea life. An on-site marine biologist monitors the health of the reef, and organises diving and snorkelling excursions, among other water sports.

For a more relaxing day, head to the Spa by JW, which features seven private treatment rooms including a Deluxe Treatment Suite with a steam room, ice room, and sauna. It also features a manicure and pedicure station, relaxation zone, over water yoga pavillion, fitness centre, and a retail area.

When it comes to dining, the resort spoils you for choice. The signature over water restaurant, Shio, is ideal for a modern-grill-room dining experience. Smoked cocktails, fine prime cut meat, and fresh crustaceans are sure to
bowl you over. Three full-service bars offer 300 labels of wine, Japanese sake, handcrafted cocktails, and over 98 types of rum.

Guests can reach the resort via a 55-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport, or a 35-minute domestic flight from Velana International Airport to Funadhoo Domestic Airport followed by a 15-minute speedboat ride.
