HILTON BODRUM TURKBUKU

HILTON BODRUM TURKBUKU RESORT & SPA Perched on the headland above Turkbuku, the Hilton has a host of indoor and outdoor pools, a kids’ club, and children’s menus in the restaurants, with wakeboarding and water-skiing available for teenagers. Parents, meanwhile, will love the ayurvedic spa.

DIVAN BODRUM Divan Bodrum, on the northern tip of Turkbuku, exudes an easy trendiness that belies its affordability and its 60 rooms are decorated in soothing pastel tones. There’s a private beach and an outdoor pool that’s an ideal spot for dozing. Iskele Restaurant, meanwhile, serves delicious Mediterranean fare and Sahil Bar mixes cocktails on the waterfront.

ENA BOUTIQUE HOTEL Ena is ideally located if you want to base your trip around Bodrum’s compact, buzzy centre. Inexpensive yet comfy, it has 18 rooms of fair size, bathrooms with rain showers, and a roof terrace from which you can gaze across city roofs to the seafront beyond. It’s also a short walk from here to Bodrum Castle and the bars along Cumhuriyet Caddesi.

SLEEP The Bodrum Peninsula’s embrace of the finer things in life is encapsulated by this fashionable retreat, which brings its brightness to the waterfront at Torba, a place once solely devoted to fishing. As its name suggests, it delights in strong colours, thought-provoking paintings and dashes of creative flair. Artworks and sculptures fill out a lobby that’s defined by light and space, while pieces by Turkish artists inject local perspective onto the walls of the breezy guest rooms. Yet for all this, the hotel’s main appeal is surely its location — you sleep within earshot of the tide.

NIKKI BEACH Some destinations spark an urge to rise at dawn and head out to explore. Bodrum is not one of those places — and Nikki Beach demonstrates why. Here is a hideaway, in the vicinity of Torba, where hiding is the whole point. White furnishings, from linen in the rooms to the loungers at the pool and the beach club, are an invitation to indolence. The Sunset Lounge is set up for cocktails at dusk. Cafe Nikki serves light Mediterranean fare, including mezze platters of shrimp and octopus, while the spa offers a 70-minute body mud wrap. The message is simple: come and stay — the world can wait.
