Old is Gold

The Pelham, London offers the excitement of a London townhouse and the familiarity of an English country home.

SITTING IN THE heart of South Kensington in London, The Pelham is an elegant boutique hotel, with bright, colourful interiors inspired by the adjacent Kensington Gardens. After being acquired by Starhotels in 2014, The Pelham underwent a facelift, but the ethos of the hotel remains intact.

The hotel sports wooden panels and open fireplaces, reminiscent of a grand English country home. Brushed metal and distressed glass finish, along with abstract paintings and wall hangings, add to the charm. The reception area has a vintage jockey scale chair, as a tribute to the hotel’s past as a city stable. All the 52 bedrooms and suites at The Pelham have their own style, with a mix of antique and modern furniture, paintings, and precious fabrics. You can spot wooden and metal frames, floor-to-ceiling windows, and patterned headboards, drapes and upholstery everywhere.

The hotel has 10 luxurious suites, and each one of them is designed to suit personal tastes and needs of guests. The bathrooms are designed in solid granite and oak, with period-style taps and Penhaligon’s toiletries.

The Pelham is located in the Victorian South Kensington district, making it an ideal accommodation option to explore major landmarks in London. It is a few minutes away from the Natural History Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum, and a few steps from Harrods, Hyde Park, and The Royal Albert Hall. For events and meetings, both business and private, The Pelham offers two bright, elegant conference rooms that can host up to 40 people, a private dining room, drawing room, and a library.

Dining at The Pelham is an elegant affair. The La Trattoria restaurant offers Italian classics reinterpreted by Michelin-starred Chef Alfred Russo. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast, light lunch, vintage afternoon tea, or an elegant dinner at this eclectic dining destination,
